With a history dating back to 1344, Chateau Mont-Redon is one of the Rhone Valleys most historic and revered estates. Family-owned since 1923, the Abeille-Fabre family has guided the domaine with a long-term vision focused on excellence, authenticity and respect for the land. Today, the vineyard spans over 100 hectares in the heart of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and is farmed sustainably under HVE (High Environmental Value) certification, actively preserving biodiversity, eliminating herbicides, and working in harmony with the natural ecosystem. Blending deep heritage with modern precision, Mont-Redon crafts wines that embody the character, purity and longevity of the great Rhone terroirs.
Pierre Fabre, fourth generation of the Abeille-Fabre family, has led winemaking at Mont-Redon since 2008. During this time, the estate has been consistently recognised among the top producers in Chateauneuf-du-Pape by leading international critics and publications. Pierre has evolved the winery through innovation, from state-of-the-art optical sorting to precision vinification, while staying true to the familys values of balance, finesse and terroir expression. His approach is meticulous yet restrained, allowing each parcel to speak clearly and crafting wines that are elegant, age-worthy and unmistakably Mont-Redon.
Chateau Mont-Redon lies in the north-west of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation and has the rare privilege of owning all three of its emblematic terroirs: the iconic galets roules (rolled pebbles), the safres (compact sandy soils), and the Urgonian limestone terraces. This natural diversity is the foundation of the estates complexity and signature style. The heat-retaining pebbles with thin clay subsoils ensure exceptional fruit concentration even in drought; the limestone parcels excel in wetter years, producing dense, chalk-textured Syrah and mineral-driven whites; while the safres bring aromatic lift, elegance and refined intensity. Working each parcel individually and blending with precision, Mont-Redon achieves perfect natural harmony, yielding wines of consistency, purity and remarkable ageing potential.
